Bedford Turkey Trot 2018

People running a race

November means one thing to most people: Thanksgiving. Many of us get excited to feast with family and friends and express our gratitude to them. Others in our neighborhood spend the month preparing for and participating one of our beloved Bedford, Massachusetts traditions.

The Bedford Turkey Trot

No need to stress about being the fastest one out there in this race. There are no timing chips or VIP tents — just nice people, fun prizes and a good cause. This is a friendly fun-run / walk as a fundraiser for Bedford Food Pantry. That said, this is a USA Track & Field sanctioned race (event # C18025387).

The Bedford Turkey Trot provides a significant portion of the food pantry annual budget, and is a great way to build up an appetite for Thanksgiving dinner. Last year the event raised $9000; this year the goal is to raise $15000.

The event begins at 8am Thanksgiving morning (Thursday, November 22, 2018) at John Glenn Middle School. The middle school is about 4.5 miles driving from Heritage at Bedford Springs. It takes approximately 11 to 15 minutes to drive there.

If you’re interested in participating in the race, you will need to complete an online registration. There is no mail-in or walk-in registration for the Bedford Turkey Trot.

Several local businesses sponsor this event every year. Some of the sponsors for this year’s race include Callahan's Karate, WT Phelan Insurance, Bedford Car Wash, Bruegger's Bagels, Comella's Restaurant, and Barre3. For the latest updates about this year’s race visit the Bedford Turkey Trot 2018 Facebook Event Page.

If you’d like to help out the food pantry in your spare time you can also volunteer there. Bedford Food Pantry is located at 12 Mudge Way, Bedford, MA 01730, very close to the middle school.

Happy Thanksgiving from Heritage at Bedford Springs!
