Stress — everybody has it, and to a certain extent, it can be good for us. It motivates us to act, it kicks in to keep us safe, and it can help us succeed. However, too much stress or multiple stressors all at the same time can put us out of commission or wear us down. And let’s face it, our busy lives can quickly fill up with stressors, making it all too common and wearing on your mental and physical health before you know it.

Doing so on a regular basis will remind you of the important things. If something from your day was difficult, think it over: if it’s not going to matter a week from now, a month from now, or a year from now, then let it go.

  • Speaking of simple things, something as simple as a hug can have a huge impact when it comes to reducing stress. Humans need touch to thrive, so hug someone today. Or schedule a massage regularly to work out the knots stress tends to produce.

  • Water can also be a good way to relieve stress. Take a walk along a park you love or stream a nature track that features ocean waves or waterfalls. Even adding a table-top fountain to your decor creates a relaxing mood. Or simply take a bubble bath at the end of a long day and bask in the warm water.
